ARRIVING BY FLIGHT Kathmandu is easily reachable by flight. There are many flights from major cities in India (Delhi, Calcutta, Varanasi, Mumbai). If coming from abroad there are good connections through the Persian Gulf as well as Thailand, China, Singapore, Korea and Malasia. Cleartrip is a good site for checking flight schedules and fares.
ARRIVING BY TRAIN If coming from India you should train to Gorakpur. This is a short distance from the border crossing where you can get a jeep or bus to Kathmandu. If you’re new to Indian Railways (this probably means you’ve not been in India before) then you can read a lot of wonderful information about the railways here. For all railway information, this site is generally the easiest to use before doing your actual booking. You can book from abroad or within India on Cleartrip. ARRIVING BY ROAD Buses and Cars There is a bus service from Delhi you can enquire in the main bus station for further details. Train is quicker and more fun. From all parts of Nepal buses are available to Kathmandu and then on to Panauti is a short ride just over an hour. CLIMATE In November the days will be pleasant and evenings will be a little cool but not cold. Average maximum temperature for November: 23 degrees Celsius (73.4 F) Average minimum temperature for November: 7 degrees Celsius (44.6 F) Warm clothes should be ground for evenings. You can also easily get woolen items in Panauti or nearby Dhulikel or Bhaktapur if arriving without winter clothes.
